Here we are with another Winter come and gone. Thankfully we had a relatively mild one. I don’t know about you, but the older I get, the longer the Winters seem! That being said, Spring is here and with it all of the outdoor activities that your club has to offer will again be available for your enjoyment.
Besides all of the activities you’ve enjoyed in the past, last year we brought back live birds for dog training. It seems like the idea was gaining popularity so we’re going to keep it going this year.
I’ve contracted with our game provider to have 100 birds reserved for this program. We should have Chukkars and Hen Pheasants available by the end of June and by the end of July we should have Roosters in full plumage. If you’re interested in purchasing birds for training purposes, the cost will be $10.00 for Chukkar and $15.00 for Pheasant.
Currently there are 6 or 7 of us that can help you acquire birds. We’ll have a list posted in the clubhouse so let us know if you’d like to purchase birds and let us know when you’d like to go out so we can manage the amount of people in the Dog Training area at once so we can keep your sessions both safe and productive.
Membership numbers seem to be holding steady. This is great news! The new members you’re bringing in are making up for the members we lose to attrition. I’d like to personally thank you for sponsoring the new guys and gals. It really does help us keep club costs in check. Keep up the good work!!
Renewals will again be going out the last week of July so you’ll have over 60 days to remit your dues payment. If you have a problem with your dues, I’ll do what I can to assist. There’s quite a bit I can do before the October 1st deadline. After the 1st, not so much. Reach out to me if there’s a problem.
Please contact the club if you do not receive your renewal form. Or simply send your check in with a copy of your current card and we’ll take care of it.
As the climate around Outdoor Sports is changing, we really need to pull together and support each other. Please get a friend involved or your kids or grandkids. The median age of the club keeps getting older and if we don’t get some new, younger members, all that we have and have worked for will disappear.
That’s it for now. As always, the door is always open and if you have any questions or concerns please let me know. We can’t fix it if we don’t know it’s broken.
