Fall is around the corner, cool air is coming and things are heating up at the club house. We are revamping field day this year, yes there still will be clams and corn on the cob. Food will be served all day long so you can enjoy the shooting on the ranges and grab something to eat when you are ready. Also, some nice raffle prizes are going home that day. Before you know it the game dinner will be here, last Saturday in January. We are looking for donations as usual. Along with the favorite items like venison and bear, I would like to change it up this year and add some waterfowl. Connecticut has a liberal early goose season, if you want to donate some just let me know, You don’t even have to clean them, we will do it. Ducks too. To the deer hunters, if you have a deer you want to donate, just get ahold of me or a board member. The cooler is ready to be filled. Also, don’t leave those hearts and livers for the coyotes, drop them off too. Some other things to mention but not limited to, Pheasant, Boar, Squirrel, Turkey, Bear, Moose, Elk, Buffalo, fish and Beaver. Last year we had an awesome turn out of about 200 people. Let’s all help and make this a great fundraiser for the club. If you would like to help out in the kitchen, just stop by and say hi. There is a lot of work that gets unnoticed to put out the food that you all love so much and this cannot be done by just me. I’m lucky to have help from the duo of Ed and Betty and my dad who are at most events. There are plenty more people that help out from time to time. We are always looking for more help, doesn’t have to be every event, whatever works for you.
