On May 25th, the Wounded Warriors visited Bristol for a Day of Trap Shooting. Although the turnout was smaller than expected due to rain, the Day was a success due to the fantastic volunteers of our club. We had 7 Warriors brave the freezing temps in mind numbing cold rain and we couldn’t get them to stop shooting.
This is such a rewarding day for the members of the club. Please know, the feedback from the Warriors was so positive. All monetary contributions were converted to gift cards to insure that 100% of the money donated was handed directly to the neediest veterans. We made a difference to these deserving young people. There are so many members of our club who stepped up with food, ammo and their time. A special thank you goes out to anyone who brought an umbrella, but it seemed nothing could have stopped these fine men and women from having a good time.
We had some very special veterans in our company including a young woman with a traumatic brain injury from a roadside bomb. This young lady was an avid hunter from PA who grew up among a family of woodcock hunters. Her shooting skills were impressive. This soldier was one notch below a sniper and showed us she loved to hit a moving target. We also had a new young dad who experienced first hand the consequence of an IED hitting his military vehicle in Pakistan. The stories were endless and are the most rewarding part of our day.
Thank you to everyone for all the food, the time, the kindness and especially the support for our veterans.
